#PNG's Planning Dept threatens Sharpie

An administrator of influential Papua New Guinea Facebook Group Sharp Talk has her job under threat for comments made regarding the Government Department she works for. The highly corrupt Planning Department that mismanages PNG's development budget has threatened to sack Natasha Panta.

The attack at Natasha is regarded as a threat against social media commentators, democracy and freedom of speech by a rogue arm of the PNG Government.

BELOW IS THE THREAD FROM SHARP TALK REGARDING THE MATTER

----------------------------------------------

A thread on speculation about my removal from work was removed... While it is possible and heading that way, I don't want your sympathy or comfort... It's a personal matter for me to deal with... I criticized my own organization and I'm aware of the consequences... I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILTY FOR MY OWN VIEWS... At this juncture and as admin I wish to stress that while it is democratic right to express your views, be responsible for them. It is a personal matter so my possible termination from work is NOT TO BE DISCUSSED ON THIS FORUM...
    • Yaku'sau Omotosho Some people never cease to amaze me these days. You are a strong woman who will get through anything thrown to you in life.. ♥ em stap..
    • Deborah R. Telek Natascious Natasha, yu wampla strongpla meri ya, respect, respect :)
    • Jerry Huekwahin Natascious Natasha, don't you worry. Some members on ST are very influnetial, and are your potential employers, they've seen your contribution on this page, and I am sure one of them will help faciliate a job for you. Be strong!
    • Joshua Yaprimbe Natasha, I'll be the ass on this thread and ask, why did you criticize the 'hand that feeds you??' especially on a public forum like this! Samting blo u but mi tok tasol...thought you were smarter than this? Obviously not
    • Natascious Natasha Hehe! I'm actually a crazy person Joshua... In the sense that I say it like it is...
    • Jeff Genia Hard to find Ppl wt the courage to stand right beside what they say come what may - Nothing wrong with having Integrity - Good on ya
      N@ascious one.
FireBrand - Keep the Fire Burnin!!!
    • Aiixq X-Man To all those you cared for the development of our country, I am a colleague of Natasha who thinks Natasha went too far from us to consult and look for solutions which she thinks we lack. While I appreciate the idea behind this sharp talk, the manner Natasha discussed this is completely unacceptable.....I am ready to clarify the issues which Natasha doesn't even know abt aid coordination and aid effectiveness n you guys can provide your valuable inputs rather than criticisms....after all it's not an overnight process..
    • Anton Lutz there is dangerous precedent of people feeling forced to 'go along to get along'... to 'not rock the boat'... to keep the mouth wide open and the voice wide shut. are we in a nation where its dangerous to tell the truth? are we stupid for keeping our mouths closed, or for opening them?! my hat is off to you, sister. if no one stands up to this trend now- the corruption of the common man- we doom our children to a hellish future. viva integrity!
    • Copland Karau Very likable.....most admirable and totally dig your bravado....tokaut tokstret na yumi stap and for freedom of expression, sure but you cannot be terminated for speaking your mind unless you signed or at least agreed to sign something! Take it to the unions and check under any award between your org and the unions
    • Natascious Natasha Aixxman wanbel lo tokok blo u... I generalized and said FAD, I understand we have good officers who are competent... GENERALLY SPEAKING... don't take criticism too hard on yourself...
    • Natascious Natasha And plis do your work and stop facebooking... I'll b terminated so don't worry about me fbing... Anyway you guys swearing and Floyd kicking me and threatening to smash my face is unbecoming and definitely not professional
    • Deborah R. Telek ‎??? Who kicked you???
    • Yaku'sau Omotosho Please oh shame yah!..
    • Deborah R. Telek Oh gees.... Anyway, I'll go to your wall... I'm becoming stressed reading this thread.
    • Lapaia Ilima Termination for your views or for being critical. Thats ridiculus, this is suppose to be a democracy not a communist state..Whoever is behind it, tell him or her, thats a cheap shot, there are better things and bigger problems for the country for the department to focus on in terms of its functions.
    • Osborne Sanida And the way comments are progressing on this thread, it seems the very thing you (Natascious Natasha) don't want discussed are being and going to be discussed....any way you can disable the comments and just leave the original post/notice?...just saying.
    • Joshua Yaprimbe Aixxman, mi wanbel long tok tok blo u. Natasha may have crossed the line but is considering how f$*#d National Planning is, the misappropriation, the corruption and blatant filth in there, what Natasha is accused off is nothing!
    • Vincent Moses Whoever made this decision....department head or colleague. If you are not mature enough to accept criticism either from within or outside your org, I feel sorry for you. I also feel sorry for the future of PNG and the future generations. This country will not change or develop with this kind of attitude where we are comfortable maintaining the status quo. PNG and not Natasha is the ultimate loser here.....so sad.
    • William Yari some people are jealous and they will do anything, even threaten you, to make you fear them...don't back down at them...
    • Aiixq X-Man It's not too dangerouse to tell the truth in this country coz you will get the support from those that cannot speak up...I fully understand that! But Natasha as a prof colleague of mine should consult us internally and if you can figured that out, it's all to do with internal issues, which we can handle. We are consulting here and there in the office and with donors plus other gov't agencies to see things through and for a colleague to come out and criticise unfairly like this is totally unacceptable. We are not threatening anyone to hide our incompetencies or whatever, there is a proper channel to address this issue. @ Natasha, you generalized FAD but who exactly in FAD is your dumb???? I hope you and your intellectual country men & women here understands aid coordination and aid effectiveness well b4 you criticised DNPM for it's effort in making sure we coordinate well and make aid more effective. It's not DNPM alone will take this trough..
    • Aiixq X-Man Copeland; I really appreciate your "talk aut tok stret" But if she can't tokaut tokstret lo mipla as a colleague but to go on to ST and make comments that degrade our capabilities, in what position can you come in and assist. She will know well how to provide some intellectual ideas than bringing up to you guys that only give criticism and didn't even provide the solutions to the issues raised. Your discussions from aid coordination & aid effectiveness, you guys went straight to say dumbs to DNPM officer, we were in by wantok system, we are to be kicked out...etc,,,,what kind of intellectual contributions you will make? That's were Natasha made a big mistake.....
    • Natascious Natasha OMG! I think I opened a can of worms! I'll delete this thread!
    • Aiixq X-Man I saw whoever Natasha is accussing of kicking her, he kicked the bin next to Natasha...
    • Lapaia Ilima As anyone died of being critizised? or is it bad to be critizised?
    • Joshua Yaprimbe So what's the reason for her termination cause as far as I can tell its jealousy and acting like cry babies because Natasha didn't come to you first. You seem insecure Aixxman...Wari long aid na mipla debatim
    • Nicole Masta ‎@ deborah: eye witness account floyd did not kick her but kicked the rubbish bin near her workstation... and to the others when you critisize professionals and call them dummies who in the world wudn't take that personally????
    • Joshua Yaprimbe Noken deletim Natasha
    • Vincent Moses So it is now wrong to discuss and analyse ineffectiveness of govt departments? Accept public criticism and become better. Whether it is social media or mainstream media, it makes no difference. Issues need to be discussed openly, then people hopefully might see the need to change, otherwise, there will never be any change and the status quo will continue to be maintained. I think it is about time ALL issues including aid effectiveness are brought out in the open and openly discussed!!
    • Susannah Warokra Unfortunate to hear of ur bad news, but I have admired ur straight to the point views and wish u all the best in the search for a new job! A strong and independent person such as urself never stays down for too long, so good luck sista na God bless :)
    • Aiixq X-Man Ilima, its not bad to b criticised....m not scared to be criticised coz it helps but criticise constructively & responsibly, & ah?
    • Aiixq X-Man Joshua, she has not been terminated yet...if the management is not too happy, she will have a point to prove, man. Man that's how we work in a coordinating agency, you consult first. I didn't cry for Natasha by passed me, coz she has nothing to provide me or my colleagues. I am not insecure at all, my position is not given to my by birth rite, ok! I av a life to leave after that coz I am not a looser. I av come to far to be in this department and we worked tireless nites for our country....Natasha touched the wrong people tha's why we are having this debate. You tell us what can you offer after your criticism...
    • Vincent Moses If it was a personal attack on a colleague including name calling etc. then it is wrong. However, if it is a general observation and criticism of the way things are done then I don't see anything wrong with it.
    • Joshua Yaprimbe So Aixxman you feel your country owes you now and you want to be respected? You are full of shit and a cry baby....sapos Natasha gets terminated you will be ridiculed
    • Lapaia Ilima Beauty of Social Media wer witnessing right here..:)
    • Natascious Natasha My dear colleagues at DNPM on this thread... I will be dealt with accordingly by management accordingly...Do your work and don't pressure yourselves unecessarily. Cheers and don't say anymore. It's embarrassing..
    • Nicole Masta ‎@ joshua now whose crying over natasha being deleted?????:)
    • Jeff Genia ‎* n' dn't go kicking rubbish bins...sorry N@ - jst had to throw that 2toea in :)
    • Jeffery Hasimani If someone called you dummy, prove them wrong, not cry and try to fight..that goes to show you're a real dummy.
    • Nou Vada Oi the whole lot of u, this is not the VULUPINDI FACEBOOK PAGE or whatever... We have chaos around the country we should be discussing about on the forum. Nat has made it clear she doesnt want the matter discussed so let's just respect her wishes.

      #justsayin
    • Vonsiie Api Vavine Numa Natascious Natasha In the bigger picture look at what you have done
    • Aiixq X-Man Not at all; have you heard JFK inaugural speech; Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what yu can do for your country. That's my principle I got if from JFK....my country doesn't even owe mi at all...I do it for my country in whatever small ways in terms of my contribution to move this country forward...I deserve no recognition, I am doing this for the future generation...you tell me how smart are you in what m doing, you are shit and shallow minded yourself...I will not b accountable for Natasha's termination if she ever gets it. It will be a management decision so you can go to hell...
    • Aiixq X-Man That's for Joshua..(the above comment)
    • Meri Markham susa..sanap strong....dont let the weak get to you or seek legal advice...
    • Susannah Warokra ‎@jeff LOL, true yah.... They want to be treated like professionals and yet don't act like professionals! Got a work place problem....deal with it accordingly.... Don't go kicking rubbish bins around....it just shows how immature u are n how much Natasha has hurt u :'( boo hoo Oh yeah, and please clean up the mess u made Floyd :)
    • Lapaia Ilima Give her a break guys, go put your heads down and do some work..Am sure some of you have deadlines to meet or some still have overdue tasks to do from last month..time is not a luxury..:).
    • Aiixq X-Man Yes someone can stop the conversation, i'm jst trying to clearify certain things that you don't know and since Natasha cried over st that something is going on, I wanted to come out and atleast clarify....not a problem, we can stop..
    • Aiixq X-Man yeah susannah, i guess, you realize by now, that was what Natasha did.....unprofessionally degrade the hand that she building her foundations from. No one here, will hide anything if we lack competency or if we r corrupt....we all want to address this issues...
    • Yaku'sau Omotosho and you Aiixq X-Man is wasting DPM's time and money to continue to justify you and your colleagues actions. WE READ YOU LOUD AND CLEAR!!!. Go get real work done now..
    • Natascious Natasha I am the one at fault for my very blunt comments insensitive comments...I admit that fact. Now let's stop this nonsense! There are better things to do!!
    • Rodney ToRodz Harrison ‎@all, bata enjoym displa thread stap...sampla moa plis!
    • Yaku'sau Omotosho SHARP TALKERS - LET'S ALL LEAVE THIS AT THAT!.. Natascious Natasha will keep us updated on the outcome soon..
    • Copland Karau Haha.....was her comment critical to continueing the project ?..... If so, shouldn't her comments be valued.

I have worked under 2 successive Australian admins and see why there are complaints on how their aid is spent.

Nowhere did I mention the trite term "Wantoks system"

We need a style, maybe being Open, Honest and Accountable will help.

      Communicating does help.
    • Aiixq X-Man Meri Markham; yes we want all our women folks to be strong as well...we are not weak as you think....there are a whole range of issues you will deal with as a public servant to make things work which I guess all of you don't even come to understand...
    • Lapaia Ilima Aiixq X-Man, I worked in the public service before and all I can say is that our public service is a sleeping giant..
    • William Yari hahah..anyway, lets all have a break..top arvo to you all wantoks
    • Joshua Yaprimbe Aixxman and all dummies in DNPM who lick asses of donors...your attempts to addressing this issue is foolish and you call yourselves professionals? Hahaha...go suck on a dummy cause you all are exactly that. And Png does not owe you anything Aixxman what an idiot
    • Michael Midiwabu Its a good idea to take it higher up for a fix to occur, however in this part of the world, little or nothing may eventuate as a result. We need a change and if we can't take the analysis of ourselves from someone else in good faith, we will not change at all and not improve for the better.
CHANGE and don't waste time justifying your stances whatever they maybe because CHANGE for the better will never take place and nothing will improve as a result.
Genuine, honest and humble people will take criticisms openly and work towards improvement and eventual progress for overall benefit. Retorts, threats and penalties to criticisms achieve NOTHING!
Sapos trasis or skot bilong yu buruk na wanpela toksave long yu long dispela long eye bilong ol man, yu ken paitim korosim em tasol buruk long kolos bilong yu istap yet. Yu yet sem na senisim trasis or skot, bai yu yet e orait.
JUST FIX WHATEVER IS DEEMED AS A PROBLEM SO THIS COUNTRY TRULY PROGRESSES AND DEVELOPS!
    • Vincent Moses That is what I have been trying to sayMichael! Thanks!
    • Joshua Yaprimbe Michael well said!
    • Ken Kavora ‎@all.Food for thought. "The first rule of holes: if you are in one, stop digging!"
    • Aiixq X-Man yes ilima, that's what everyone say but i pity yu didn't last long because I guess you didn't have the will to turn this sleeping giant
