PASKA” PROTEST WILL GO AHEAD”
The Trade Union Workers will go ahead to convene their planned protest march to Parliament today. That’s the word from the Secretary General, John Paska, when called up this morning. He also states that Trade Union Movement will be meeting this morning to discuss and organise themselves to ensure it is a trouble-free march, with the full cooperation of the police force. NGO’s, the Civil Society Organisations and Union members are also expected to front up at the Parliament House this morning in order to petition the Government.
COMMANDERS OFFICE ON ARREST AND STANCE
The NCD/Central Commanders Office this morning dispelled rumors that a warrant of arrest was out for Mr John Paska. The office says they will not be arresting anyone today, but will be out in full force to ensure that opportunists do not take advantage of the situation today. It is further appealing to the Unions and other organisations to defer the march to later, as they are concerned with the current situation within the force itself, which is still to be sorted out. It says, given the current impasse struggle” it is advisable that the protest be deferred to a later date. It is appealing to city residents to go on their normal lives for today.
