Oh Shit! Sunday Chronicle is reporting that Papua New Guinea’s own environmental disaster is reforming to cause heartache. Yep, wonder if the 59 Members of Parliament have consulted with their electorate and their sheeple have asked for this new development to bring them goods and services.
Pause! I think Deep Sea Tailings, the new development in fishing technology is going to be a winner. Not to mention 10 more Tuna canneries in Madang, that would make the current environmental disaster look like a resort.
Just when you though things couldn’t get any worse, Fukushima’s troubles are headed this way. Well we now know that it is the Worlds Worsest Environmental Disaster caused by the meltdown of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant after the Great Japan earthquake and tsunami of March 2011 .
A lot of Radioactive material was released into the ocean and the atmosphere. According to an AFP report:
From March 21 to mid-July, 27.1 peta becquerels of caesium 137 entered the sea, the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) said.
One peta becquerel is a million billion bequerels, or 10 to the power of 15.
Of the total, 82 percent entered the sea before April 8, through water that was pumped into the Fukushima's damaged reactor units in a bid to cool them down, it said.
Tons of Radioactive debris have now reached the Marshall Islands as of the 15th of November 2011. Radioactive debris are headed towards our waters.
Authorities in other countries are checking Japanese products for radiation levels. I wonder if PNG Customs are also doing radiation checks on Japanese Imports not to mention sea water checks to monitor levels of radioactive substances like Cesium.
